About the Assisted Venting Roof Tray

The Assisted Venting Roof Tray optional accessory is designed for heavier thermal loading in an AcoustiRACK® quiet rackmount cabinet. This 19-inch fan tray is slightly deeper than that which comes as standard, and replaces this part fixed just under the rack vented roof. The Assisted Venting Roof Tray comes with six 120x120x38mm diameter quiet DustPROOF fans fitted (each 12VDC). Each fan has the following airflow (CFM) and noise level (dBA) in free air: 94.4 CFM/41.0dBA. The fans are fixed to the tray using an anti-vibration soft fan gasket to reduce the amount of vibrational noise generated by each fan motor. A chrome finger grille is attached to the underside of each fan (intake) to protect fingers from being cut by the fan blades.

Airflow is extracted from the rear top of the rack cabinet and forced forward along a baffle between the roof lid and the fan tray before it escapes - soundproofing materials lining the baffle significantly reduce the fan motor noise to approx. 40dBA (measured 1m from the front of the cabinet). The cumulative airflow is approx. 400CFM (due to the fact that the fans are not operating in free air).

An auto-sensing power adapter is fitted inside the roof tray adjacent to the fans supplying 12VDC power to the six quiet fans (30W, 12VDC output voltage, 100-240VAC 50/60Hz input voltage), and has built in over-voltage, over-load and short circuit protection. The tray is powered by plugging a standard IEC 320 mains inlet plug into a fused (3A) rocker switch towards the back of the tray. A 3m length fused (5A) mains cable is supplied (with UK plug) with the accessory.

The fan tray is supplied with acoustic materials (two parts), which help to attenuate noise both escaping from the top of the AcoustiRACK® cabinet (from noisy equipment installed) and from the 120mm fan motors themselves.
