Antec Sonata II/I Fitting Directions v1 NOTE THESE ARE 1.6Mb
First work out where each part fits in the case and fit ONLY in the order shown on the instructions because some parts will NOT fit if installed before others!
We've found that removing only part of the backing sheet when fitting self-adhesive parts is the easiest way to fit them. For example, when fitting the self-adhesive door panel to the inside of the Sonata II door - peel back a small proportion of the backing sheet first, locate the self-adhesive part against the hinge edge as directed, and only proceed when you are certain that the part location is correct. If you make a mistake - the materials can be re-positioned - not to worry!
Please take care to read the fitting directions before assembling this product. It is the responsibility of the machine builder to position the materials appropriately to facilitate the normal functioning of internal components.
PCMag.com's
article on Making a Quiet Case Quieter features the
Antec Sonata II with the AcoustiPack pre-cut kit.
"...it's an attractive case and has room for expansion. This case also has a sturdy but relatively accessible interior, so it's fairly easy to work on. (A large cooling duct that vents air from the CPU cooler out of the case gets in the way, but that part is easy to remove.) Those are not the only reasons for choosing the Sonata II, however: the AcoustiPack precut noise reduction kit really won us over. You can buy noise reduction plastic or foam materials, of course, and you can cut them yourself for any PC case. But anyone who's tried to cut a straight line through a piece of foam with a craft knife or Dremel will understand the appeal of a precut kit.

noise reduction..."

The Italian website pcimprover.it installed
their Antec Sonata II PC case with a GlobalWin SAK 38 heat
sink. They then took sound measurements both with and without
the AcoustiPack™ Pre-Cut Soundproofing Kit installed.
Their tests showed that with the AcoustiPack™ soundproofing kit the noise emissions were reduced from 45dB(A) to 36dB(A) which is approximately 3 times lower noise output! It also showed that the frequency of sound was also lower.
They would recommend AcoustiPack™ to anyone wanting
to significantly reduce the noise of their PC without sacrificing
performance.

ExtremeTech.com
built a modded Antec Sonata II with an Athlon 64 FX-57, Seasonic
S12 600 PSU, Zalman CNPS 7700 and eVGA GeForce 7900 GTX. The
resulting SPL (A-weighted) was an extremely quiet 29dB(A)!
"...we didn't expect the Sonata by itself to be quiet enough, but then we discovered the AcoustiPack™ pre-cut noise reduction kit for the Antec Sonata II. It's certainly true that you can buy noise reduction plastic or foam materials, cut them yourself, and use them with any PC case. Anyone who has ever watched in horror as someone tried to cut a straight line with a craft knife or Dremel will instantly understand the appeal of a pre-cut kit...
"...the system was eerily quiet overall, in a quiet office with nothing else running. At one meter from the front, you had to strain to hear the system run, even at full bore...
"Pros: Easy to apply; relatively low cost; works well
Cons: Need to take care in applying the material; this kit
is only for the Sonata or Sonata II
Summary: If you want to build a quiet PC,
then this kit can give you a big head start, with no need
to measure and cut. And it's fairly inexpensive." Rating:
